Jason has dedicated over two decades to the Nuxalk Nation Stewardship Office Fisheries & Wildlife Department, carrying forward a lifelong commitment to the protection of Nuxalk lands and waters. His work is deeply rooted in the teachings of his late father, Staltmc Chief Qwatsinas Edward Moody, and his enduring legacy of stewardship for all living beings who belong to this territory.

Nuxalk Bear Protocol

The First Nations of the Great Bear Rainforest had established a prohibition on the hunting of grizzly bears well in advance of any ban enacted by the Province of British Columbia. The following protocol was signed by the vast majority of Nuxalk Stataltmc, the recognized legal caretakers of the unceded, ancestral territories of the Nuxalk People, located within what is now known as British Columbia’s Central Coast.
